history
The model was unveiled to the public at the New York International Auto Show in April 2019 . The X 167 is the third generation of the GLS or GL and technically closely related to the GLE (V 167) . The X 167 is built at the US Mercedes-Benz plant in Tuscaloosa .
Mercedes-AMG presented the GLS 63 at the LA Auto Show on November 20, 2019 . One day later, a variant from Mercedes-Maybach was presented at the Guangzhou Auto Show with the GLS 600 .
Technical specifications
At the market launch, the Mercedes-Benz X 167 will be offered with two petrol and two diesel engines. The GLS 450 4MATIC variant introduced in mid-2020 uses the 3.0-liter R6 petrol engine with an integrated starter generator ( M256 ) familiar from the S and CLS-Class . For the first time, Mercedes-Benz is selling a mild hybrid V8 gasoline engine, the GLE 580 4MATIC . The R6 diesel engine is available in the two performance levels known from the GLE (V 167) as the GLS 350 d 4MATIC and GLS 400 d 4MATIC . Only the performance of the 350 d differs slightly (+14 hp) from the engine of the same name in the GLE.
