The Mercedes F1 W07 Hybrid is the Formula 1 - racing cars from Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team for the Formula 1 World Championship 2016 . It is the eighth Mercedes Formula 1 car. The car was presented to the public for the first time on February 21, 2016 via Twitter . The first videos of the vehicle could already be seen on February 19, 2016, when it was used for a few laps as part of a film day in Silverstone .
Technology and development
The F1 W07 Hybrid is the successor to the Mercedes F1 W06 Hybrid and a further development of the model. The biggest visual difference between the vehicles is the airbox above the driver's helmet, which is significantly wider than on the previous model.
The F1 W07 Hybrid is powered by the Mercedes-Benz PU106C Hybrid , a 1.6-liter V6 engine with a turbocharger .
Painting and sponsorship
The Mercedes F1 W07 Hybrid is predominantly silver-colored , based on the Mercedes silver arrows . The side pods and parts of the front and rear wing are painted cyan because of the main sponsor Petronas , the upper part of the engine cover, the rear part of the side pods and the side panels of the rear wing are black. In addition to stickers from Daimler AG (with the Mercedes-Benz brand ), advertising lettering from Epson , Hugo Boss and Pirelli is attached to the vehicle.

Mercedes competed again in the 2016 season with drivers Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg . Test drivers were the Manor -Pilot Pascal Wehrlein and Esteban Ocon , the first the DTM denied and was in the second half of the season team-mate Wehrlein at Manor.
2016 season
As with the two previous models, the F1 W07 Hybrid was also superior to all other vehicles in the field. Hamilton and Rosberg achieved 20 pole positions and 19 victories in the 21 races of the season , eight of which were a one-two. Only the two races in Spain , where both collided and eliminated on the first lap, and in Malaysia , where Rosberg fell far behind after a collision with Sebastian Vettel in the first corner and Hamilton suffered an engine failure while in the lead, Mercedes could not win.
In addition, the drivers drove the fastest race lap eight times . Mercedes won the Constructors' World Championship early at the Japanese Grand Prix , the 17th race. In the last race of the season, Rosberg secured his only drivers' championship title with a second place, Hamilton was vice world champion five points behind.
With 765 World Championship points in one season, Mercedes set a new record in the Formula 1 World Championship with the W07 Hybrid.
