The Williams FW38 is the Formula 1 - racing cars of Williams Martini Racing for the Formula 1 World Championship 2016 . The car was presented on the team's website on February 19, 2016.

Technology and development

The FW38 is the successor model of the FW37 and outwardly hardly differs from the previous model. The most noticeable distinguishing feature are the somewhat more rounded side boxes in the front area.

The FW38 is powered by the Mercedes-Benz PU106C Hybrid , a 1.6-liter V6 engine with a turbocharger . All wheels are individually suspended on double wishbones . Springs and shock absorbers are arranged on the inside.

Painting and sponsorship

The basic color of the vehicle is white, just like the predecessor model, and there are stripes in different shades of blue with a slightly wider red central stripe, based on the logo of the main sponsor Martini , which run from the front wing attachment to the engine cover. The Martini logo is also attached to the rear wing, otherwise the front and rear wings are painted black.

The Unilever Group advertises its Rexona brand on the front wing and side pods , and sponsor stickers from Petrobras , Randstad , Pirelli , Wihuri and Oris can also be found on the vehicle.

driver

Williams also competed in the 2016 season with drivers Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa .

2016 season

The FW38 could not confirm the good results that the team achieved with the two previous models. With a single podium that Bottas achieved at the Canadian Grand Prix , Williams was fifth in the constructors' championship at the end of the season.
