The Wihuri Packaging Group is an international packaging manufacturer for food and medical packaging based in Helsinki . The company is divided into Wipak ( European market) and Winpak ( American / Canadian market). The packaging is produced in twelve production sites in Europe and nine production sites in the USA / Canada. The Wihuri Packaging Group is part of the Finnish Wihuri Group and holds a leading position worldwide in the field of films - especially barrier films .
With production facilities, research facilities and sales offices in North America and Europe and further service offices in Asia , Australia , South America and Africa , the Wihuri Packaging Group combines market proximity with a global presence.
history
The company's roots lie in Finland with the conglomerate Wihuri , founded in 1901 , which specializes in packaging and trading in technical products and services and even operates its own airline . The Wihuri Packaging Group was founded in 1966 and is a merger of Wipak and Winpak . Wihuri employs around 5,000 people worldwide, around 3,700 of whom work for the Wihuri Packaging Group .
Wipak
In Europe, the packaging division is represented by the Wipak Group . At locations in Finland , Germany , the Netherlands , France , England , Poland and Spain , around 1,850 employees develop, produce and sell films and packaging solutions for food as well as technical and medical applications. Last year sales were around 450 million euros. The largest Wipak location is in the Walsrode industrial park in Bomlitz (Lüneburg Heath) with 650 employees. The youngest Wipak daughters have been Wipak Kempten since 2007 and the Finnish plants Wipak Avans and Wipak Valkeakoski .
Winpak
The counterpart to Wipak is the Winpak Group in the USA and Canada with around 1,850 employees, which produces complete packaging and film programs for the North American market.
