Martini & Rossi is an Italian beverage manufacturer based in Chieri near Turin . The company was best known for its vermouth brand Martini . Another well-known product is the Martini Prosecco . Martini & Rossi now also controls the production of French vermouth under the Noilly Prat brand . The company has been part of the Bacardi Group since 1993 .

In 1863 three employees of a wine trading company, the sales representative Alessandro Martini, the accountant Teofilo Sola and the cellar master and herb expert Luigi Rossi took over their company and renamed it - in accordance with the new ownership structure - to Martini Sola e Cia . In the same year they began producing vermouth in the small Italian town of Pessione near Turin. After Teofilo Sola's death in 1879, the company was renamed Martini & Rossi.
The Martini brand was already world-famous at the end of the 19th century and the company was represented with branches in important trading cities such as Buenos Aires (1884), Geneva (1886) and Barcelona (1893).
When the company was taken over by Luigi Rossi's four sons in 1900, the marketing strategy also changed, and the company was soon known as a major sponsor of cultural and sporting activities. The company has remained true to this strategy to this day. The Martini brand had a strong presence for decades, especially in cycling and motor sports. For a few years, until the ban on advertising for alcoholic beverages, Martini also presented itself in the air with the Martini patrol .
In 1994 Lorenzo Rossi di Montelera sold the shares of the Martini & Rossi family for 1.4 billion US dollars to Bacardi , which with the merger became one of the world's largest manufacturers of alcoholic beverages .
