Lorenzo Rossi di Montelera

Lorenzo Rossi di Montelera (born August 30, 1940 in Pianezza , Piedmont ) is an Italian entrepreneur .

Life

Lorenzo Rossi di Montelera studied economics and management in Lausanne and received his doctorate in Geneva. He completed management courses at IMD in Lausanne and MIT in the USA. After his military service with the Italian Alpini and NATO , he worked from 1964 to 1983 as a manager at various companies of his own family company Martini & Rossi , most recently as a board member.

In 1994 he sold the shares in the family-owned Lorenzo Rossi di Montelera company Martini & Rossi to Bacardi for USD 1.4 billion, which with the merger became one of the world's largest manufacturers of alcoholic beverages.

In 1993 he took over the Canadian company Henry Birks & Sons, a manufacturer and retailer of jewelry and luxury goods based in Toronto, and was its CEO . Together with Thomas A. Andruskevich, he took over the US competitor Mayors Jewelers Inc. and merged the two companies to form Birks & Mayors . He has been President of the Board of Directors since 2006 .

Rossi di Montelera was and is involved in several companies in Europe and North America. Among other things, he is Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Azimut Benetti Group in Avigliana and a member of the Supervisory Board of Bacardi-Martini & Rossi Holdings NV and Morval Vonwiller Holding SA . He is a board member of the Goldman Sachs Global Leadership Institute in New York.

Lorenzo Rossi di Montelera is a founding member of the Pontifical Foundation Centesimus Annus Pro Pontifice (CAPP) and was President and its legal representative from 2002 to 2009. For his work he was welcomed by Pope Benedict XVI. awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Gregorius .

Lorenzo Rossi di Montelera is married and has three children. The family came from the noble family of the Counts of Rossi di Montelera . She owns several wineries in the province of Cuneo , including the Fattoria Torre a Cona winery . The Rossi di Montelera family is ranked ninth among the wealthiest Italian families.
