The Ferrari SF16-H was the 49th Formula 1 racing cars the Scuderia Ferrari . The team contested the 2016 Formula 1 World Championship with the vehicle .
Presentation and name
The car was presented in Maranello on February 19, 2016 and the presentation was broadcast live on the Internet. The name of the car is made up of the abbreviation of the team name, SF , the year and the abbreviation for hybrid electric vehicle .
Technology and development
The SF16-H is the successor model of the SF15-T and is a further development of the predecessor model, but differs from it at first glance through a shorter nose that is reminiscent of the design of the Williams FW37 . The side boxes and engine cover could be made significantly slimmer due to the better installation position of the drive unit.
After the Ferrari Formula 1 vehicles of previous years had a double wishbone front suspension , the internal dampers and torsion bar springs of which were actuated by tie rods via deflection levers, the SF16-H are again push rods.
The SF16-H is powered by the Ferrari type 059/5 , a 1.6-liter V6 engine with a turbocharger .
Painting and sponsorship
The SF16-H is predominantly painted in classic red, with a white stripe along the entire length of the car and a wide black stripe underneath. The upper part of the engine cover is completely white. Sponsors visible on the car are Alfa Romeo , Claro, a brand name in several Latin American countries for cellular networks from América Móvil , Hublot , Kaspersky Lab , Mahle , Santander , Shell , TNT Energy Drink and UPS .
driver
Ferrari also competed in the 2016 season with drivers Kimi Räikkönen and Sebastian Vettel .
2016 season
At the beginning of the season, the SF16-H was the second fastest car in the field after the Mercedes F1 W07 Hybrid , Räikkönen and Vettel achieved nine podium positions in the first nine races. Then Ferrari fell behind in the further development of the vehicle, by the end of the season only two third places were added. Red Bull Racing overtook Ferrari in the constructors' championship, so that Ferrari finished third at the end of the season.
