The Ferrari 275P was a racing car that Scuderia Ferrari used in sports car races in 1964.

technology

The Ferrari 275P was basically a modified Ferrari 250P . The displacement of the V -12 engine was increased to 3286 cm³ and it developed up to 370 hp (272 kW). The body differed from the 250P in small changes. The windshield and roll bar formed a closure at right angles to the side window. The car had clearly visible inlets for brake ventilation and the fuel filler neck was on the left front fender.

Ferrari built four 275Ps in 1964 that were used in the sports car world championship.

Races

The 275P made its racing debut in the fall of 1963 in a sports car race in the USA. As a preparatory race for the 12-hour race at Sebring next year , Scuderia registered the 275P with chassis number 0814 for the 200-mile race at Riverside . John Surtees was behind the wheel and finished fourth in the race. A double victory followed in Sebring in 1964; Mike Parkes and Umberto Maglioli won ahead of the duo Ludovico Scarfiotti and Nino Vaccarella .

Two more successes followed. Scarfiotti and Vaccarella again won the 1000 km race on the Nürburgring . The Sicilian Vaccarella also won the 24 Hours of Le Mans a month later . The Frenchman Jean Guichet was his teammate there.

At the end of the year the cars were sold to the USA - chassis 0812 went to the North American Racing Team - and drove there in SCCA sports car races until 1968.
