Nino Vaccarella (born March 4, 1933 in Palermo ) is a former Italian sports car and Formula 1 driver .
Career

Sports car
Vaccarella's main occupation was a teacher and headmaster. His racing career began in 1957, and in 1958 he made his international debut in the Targa Florio , which he won in 1965 with Lorenzo Bandini in a Ferrari 275P2 , in 1971 with Toine Hezemans in an Alfa Romeo T33 / 3 and in 1975 with Arturo Merzario also in an Alfa Romeo. He also triumphed in 1964 on Ferrari 275P along with Jean Guichet in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and with Ludovico Scarfiotti in the 1000 km race at the Nurburgring and in 1970 with Ignazio Giunti / Mario Andretti at the 12 Hours of Sebring on Ferrari 512 S . At the 1000 km race on the Nürburgring in 1970 he finished third with John Surtees in the 512 S.
