1964 Monza 3-hour race
The 3-hour race of Monza 1964 , the Coppa Inter-Europa 1964 , also Coppa Inter-Europa, 3 Hours, Autodromo Nazionale di Monza , was a GT race that was held in Monza on September 6, 1964 . At the same time, the race was the 16th round of the sports car world championship this year.
The race
On the same day, a sports car race for racing sports cars up to a displacement of 6 liters, which had no championship status, was held as a framework race. In the race only racing cars from the Ferrari brand competed . The winner was Nino Vaccarella before Roy Salvadori and David Piper , each on Ferrari 250LM .
The field of GT cars was dominated by the Porsche 904 GTS , which took the first five places in the final classification. Rob Slotemaker secured the overall victory ahead of his compatriot Ben Pon and the Swiss Heinz Schiller .
