Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps; Route 1964

The 500 km race of Spa-Francorchamps 1964 , also 500 km Spa, Spa-Francorchamps , took place on May 17th at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps and was the fifth round of the sports car world championship of that year.

The race

For the second time since 1963 , the 500 km race was part of the sports car world championship. As in 1963, there was also a clash between several Ferrari 250 GTO drivers over the full distance in 1964 . While in 1963 Willy Mairesse won the race, the event ended in 1964 with the success of Mike Parkes , who had a lead of more than a minute on Jean Guichet after 2 ½ hours driving time . Best non-Ferrari driver was Edgar Barth , of the plant - Porsche 904 GTS fifth.
