Gerhard Koch (racing driver)
Gerhard Koch (born July 15, 1935 - † August 21, 2010 ) was a German racing driver .
Career in motorsport
Gerhard Koch was known as a works driver for Porsche in the 1960s . Between 1959 and 1970 he celebrated 20 overall and 15 class wins. For the first time he stayed victorious in a national sports car race in the Netherlands in 1958 . His last victory was the triumph of the 1967 Avus Grand Prix on a Porsche 906 .
In between, the overall victory lay in the sports car world championship in 1966 scoring Grand Prix of Mugello , together with Jochen Neerpasch the wheel of a Porsche 906, the second place at the 1000 km race at the Nurburgring in 1967 , the third with Ben Pon in 1964 on Porsche 904 and fifth place including class victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1965 .
Koch ran a haulage company in Neuss. After developing cancer, he sold the company. He was married and had a daughter and a son.
