The 500 km race in Zeltweg , also the Grand Prix of Austria (FIA World Championship race for sports cars and prototypes, 500 km race in Zeltweg), Zeltweg , took place at Zeltweg Airport on August 25, 1968 . It was the 9th round of the sports car world championship this year.

The race

The works team of Porsche took advantage of the absence of the team of John Wyer to a double victory. Jo Siffert won as a solo driver in the Porsche 908 ahead of the duo Hans Herrmann / Kurt Ahrens in the same racing car model. Third was Paul Hawkins in his privately entered Ford GT40 .
