Trevor Taylor (born December 26, 1936 in Gleadless near Sheffield , Yorkshire , † September 27, 2010 ) was a British automobile racing driver .

Life

The owner of a car repair shop made his first start at a Grand Prix of the Automobile World Championship in the 1961 Dutch Grand Prix for Lotus , after having won the British Formula 3 Championship in 1958 and 1961 . His best finish was a runner-up in his second race at the 1962 Dutch Grand Prix .

In total, Taylor started in 27 races of the automobile world championship and achieved 8 championship points. He made 19 starts for Lotus. In the 1964 season he started seven times for the British Racing Partnership team ; He was only able to finish two races (the Belgian Grand Prix and the US Grand Prix ).

After a break in 1965, he drove a Shannon SH-1 for the Shannon team at his last Grand Prix, the 1966 British Grand Prix .

He then continued his motorsport career in the European Formula 5000 Championship . The 1969 season ended Taylor as runner-up. In 1970 he was seventh and in 1971 ninth. In 1972 he ended his active racing career.

Trevor Taylor died on September 27, 2010 after a long and serious illness in the presence of his wife Elizabeth.
