Hill climb Ollon-Villars 1963

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jack Brabham drove a Formula 2 Brabham , but retired after the fastest time in the race

The hill climb Ollon-Villars , also Ollon-Villars, Swiss Mountain Grand Prix , was a hill climb that was held on August 25, 1963. At the same time, the race was the 17th round of the sports car world championship this year.

The race

In 1963 , the Ollon-Villars hill climb was the fourth race on the mountain to receive world championship status. We drove on the mountain road from Ollon to Villars-sur-Ollon in the Swiss canton of Vaud . The length of the route was exactly eight kilometers. Usually the route had to be tackled twice.

The dominators of the 1963 hill climb met again. Edoardo Lualdi , who won the Coppa della Consuma in a Ferrari Dino 196SP . Edgar Barth , the winner on the Rossfeld and the ADAC Schauinsland race . There were also Abarth works driver Hans Herrmann , Joseph Greger with his Porsche 718 WRS and Ferrari driver Carlo-Maria Abate . In Villars-sur-Ollon, too, the winner was Edgar Barth, who won the race in a Porsche 718 WRS five seconds ahead of Hans Herrmann in the Abarth 2000 .

Special attraction for the audience were three located at the starting current Formula 1 drivers , with Formula 2 - seaters were at the start. Jack Brabham had in 1959 and 1960 Formula 1 World Championship won Joakim Bonnier triumphed, in addition to his success in sports car racing , in 1959 at the Dutch Grand Prix and Jo Siffert had in 1962 in the highest debut single-seater racing formula. None of the three came into the evaluation.
