Heinz Schulthess

Heinz Schulthess (born March 10, 1939 in St. Gallen ) is a Swiss entrepreneur and former racing driver .

Racing career

Heinz Schulthess began motorsport in the 1950s. He had his first international assignment at the Mille Miglia in 1953 , where he was 41st in the overall standings as a passenger in a Porsche 356 . After he had mainly contested hill climbs in the 1960s , he turned to sports car racing in the 1970s . In addition to starting races that did not have championship status, he drove in the German racing championship and in the interseries .

In the mid-1970s he was involved in the sports car world championship and competed twice in the Le Mans 24-hour race . Both missions, 1974 and 1975 , ended prematurely after technical defects on the vehicles. By the end of his career he had four overall and two class wins.

Entrepreneur

After the end of his racing career, Schulthess founded a company in Saint-Blaise NE , in the Swiss canton of Neuchâtel , which sells and rents out American-made caravans .
