Daytona 24 Hours 1975
The 14th 24-hour race of Daytona , also the 14th Annual 24 Hour of Daytona, Championship of Makes, Daytona International Speedway , took place on February 1 and 2, 1975 at Daytona International Speedway and was the first race of the IMSA GT championship and the sports car world championship this year.
The race
The organizer received 60 reports for the first sports car world championship run of the season. Finally, on the afternoon of February 1st, 51 racing cars from the IMSA GTO, IMSA GTU, and Grand Touring (Group 4) classes started the race. From the pole position was John Greenwood into the race. The American achieved a time of 1: 55.223 minutes on his fastest lap in practice on his Chevrolet Corvette .
After 24 hours of racing time, US racing drivers Peter Gregg and Hurley Haywood were waved off as winners.
