Daytona 6 Hours 1972
The Daytona 6 Hour Race , also The Daytona 24, Three Great Races In 24 Hours (Six Hour Daytona Continental-World Manufacturer's Championship Race), Daytona International Speedway, Daytona Beach, Florida , took place on February 6, 1972 at Daytona International Speedway and was the second round of the sports car world championship this year.
The race
Due to the energy crisis in the early 1970s, the distance of the 24-hour race was shortened to 6-hour driving time. As in previous years, the race was part of the sports car world championship. The season began in January with the 1000 km Buenos Aires that the total victory of Ronnie Peterson and Tim taverns on a plant - Ferrari 312PB ended. Ferrari was the favorite team again in Daytona. This time Mario Andretti and Jacky Ickx won ahead of their team mates Peterson and Schenken and the Alfa Romeo crew Vic Elford and Helmut Marko .
