George Eaton (born November 12, 1945 in Toronto ) is a retired Canadian racing car driver .

Career

George Eaton was born into the wealthy Canadian entrepreneurial family Eaton’s . After the end of his racing career, Eaton was CEO of the family's department store chain for ten years.

Eaton contested his first races on a McLaren M1C and an AC Cobra . In 1967 he got into the North American CanAm racing series . His best result was third in the rainy race in Laguna Seca .

In the late 1960s, Eaton acquired two new racing cars, a McLaren M12 for the CanAm series and a McLaren M10 , a monoposto that he used in Formula A. His strong performances brought him into Formula 1 . At the end of 1969 , Eaton drove the US and Mexico Grand Prix for BRM

In 1970 the Canadian got a works contract with BRM and drove for the British team in both Formula 1 and the CanAm series with the new BRM P54 . The year was completely disappointing. The P54 was not fully developed and with the BRM P153 it could not achieve a world championship point in the Formula 1 World Championship.

Eaton drove the Canadian Grand Prix for BRM in 1971 , and then his Formula 1 career was over. Sports car races followed; for Ferrari he drove at Le Mans and Sebring . But Eaton did not have any major successes in motorsport and so he left the racing scene at the end of 1972 and took on tasks in the family company.
