500 km race on the Nürburgring in 1967

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Alpine A210

The eighth 500 km race on the Nürburgring , also known as the ADAC 500 km race on the Nürburgring , was held on September 3, 1967 on the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring and was the 14th and final round of the sports car world championship of that year.

The race

Again two world championship races took place on the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring in one year. The 1,000-km race took place on May 28 and ended with the total victory of Udo Schütz and Joe Buzzetta on a plant - Porsche 910 .

The fastest lap time in qualifying was achieved by Mauro Bianchi , who drove an Alpine A210 , with a time of 9: 23.900 minutes. One lap later, Bianchi had to stop on the track because a cable fire ignited the fuel line and the car began to burn. The marshals were able to quickly bring the outbreak of fire under control and the Alpine mechanics were able to completely repair the vehicle the night before the race. In the race, Bianchi was leading until halftime, then he had to retire due to a damaged clutch. For Alpine there was still a success, as Bianchi's team-mate Roger Delageneste took the overall victory.
