Formula 1 statistics
The automobile umbrella organization FIA has been holding a world championship for drivers since 1950 , and one for designers since 1958. This world championship was called the Automobile World Championship from 1950 to 1980 , then the Formula 1 World Championship . With the exception of 1952 and 1953, it was held with vehicles that correspond to the “ Formula 1 ” rules. Below is an overview of some of the records, statistics, etc. that have been set so far.
Remarks
When considering the following statistical data, it must be noted that the competitive conditions have changed over the course of the sixty-year history of Formula 1. Since 1984 at least 16 and since 2004 at least 17 World Championship races have been held per year, and in 2016 and 2018 there were even 21 Grand Prix. By the mid-1960s, on the other hand, only seven to ten races belonging to the World Championship were common, although many Formula 1 races that were not part of the World Cup were held, the results of which are not taken into account in the eternal statistics. It was not until the 1970s that the number of season races rose to an average of over 14.
Another factor that makes it difficult to evaluate the performance of previous drivers and teams on the basis of statistical surveys is the fact that up to fifty drivers and over twenty teams used to be registered for a single Grand Prix, but no more than half of them were for the race could qualify. Today there is a constant number of competitors taking part in the races.
In addition, the scoring system has been changed several times: Originally, only the first five were awarded points in each Grand Prix, after several adjustments, the first ten have been awarded since the 2010 season. Back then, the winner got as many points as sixth placed in a race today. A simple addition of points earned in World Cup races is therefore misleading and not suitable for comparing former and present-day Formula 1 drivers.
The official statistics of the racing series also include drivers who have never contested a Formula 1 race, since the Indianapolis 500 was part of the automobile world championship from 1950 to 1960 , although there were no Formula 1 vehicles at the start and only rarely Formula 1 drivers. For example, the American Bill Vukovich is listed with two Grand Prix victories, even if he never took part in regular Formula 1 races.
The reliability of racing cars has also changed dramatically: While it used to be common for around half of the starting field to stop due to a technical failure during a race, today hardly any cars fail. The seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher was able to finish almost as many world championship races without a technical failure as the five-time world champion Juan Manuel Fangio competed on several makes during his entire career.
The constructors' rating was only introduced in 1958, which is why these statistics are only kept from that year.

World Cup points
From the first Formula 1 season in 1950 to the 2009 season, between 8 and 10 points were awarded for each victory. The winner has received 25 points since 2010, in 2014 double the number of points was awarded in the last race of the season, from 2019 additional points will be awarded for the fastest lap. This puts the meaningfulness of these statistics into perspective (see Formula 1 point system ).

Number of World Championship points according to the point system that has been in effect since 2010 (25-18-15-12-10-8-6-4-2-1) applied retrospectively to all races since 1950. The last race of 2014 was calculated simply and not with double points for this statistic. The additional point awarded for the fastest laps is also not taken into account.

Grand Prix starts
All races in which the driver in question actually took part are counted. If, for example, he failed in the introductory lap (i.e. before the actual start of the race), this will not be counted as a GP participation. However, those who have made at least the first attempt to start the Grand Prix race are considered to have started.

- ↑ Including the points that were not taken into account for the constructors' rating of the year as a discard result or as a deduction of penalty points. From 1950 to 1958 there was no constructors' classification, so the driver points from these years are included.
- ↑ If there are several drivers from one designer on the podium, only one driver per race is included in the count.
- ↑ The Constructors' Championship has only been awarded since the 1958 season.
- ↑ Including the German GP 1966, in which Matra sent a Formula 2 car into the race.
- ↑ Including the starts at the German GP in 1957 and 1958, when Porsche sent Formula 2 cars into the race.
Records by tire manufacturer
Since the 2007 season there has only been one tire manufacturer who provides tires to all teams. From 2007 to 2010 this was Bridgestone. Pirelli has been supplying the tires since 2011. Since then, there has been no competition between different manufacturers. Pirelli is highlighted in blue as the current manufacturer.
The list contains all tire manufacturers who have ever been active in Formula 1. Top marks are highlighted in bold .
