South Kesteven is a district in the county of Lincolnshire in England . The administrative seat is the city of Grantham . Other significant places are Bourne , Castle Bytham , Colsterworth , Deeping St James , Folkingham , Long Bennington , Market Deeping and Stamford .

The district was formed on April 1, 1974 and emerged from the merger of the Municipal Boroughs Grantham and Stamford, the Urban District Bourne and the Rural Districts South Kesteven and West Kesteven. These previously all belonged to Kesteven , an administrative county that existed from 1889 to 1974 .
