Boston is an administrative district with borough status in the county of Lincolnshire in England . The administrative seat is the city of Boston , in which around half the population lives.
The borough was formed on April 1, 1974 and was the result of the merger of the original Borough of Boston and the Rural District Boston. Both of these previously belonged to Holland , an administrative county that existed from 1889 to 1974 .
