South Holland (English for South Holland) is a district in the county of Lincolnshire in England . The administrative seat is the city of Spalding . Another important place is Holbeach .

The district was formed on April 1, 1974 and resulted from the merger of the Urban District Spalding and the Rural Districts East Elloe and Spalding. These previously all belonged to Holland , an administrative county that existed from 1889 to 1974 .
