Bicester [ ˈbɪstər ] is a civil parish in north-east Oxfordshire in England .

St. Edburg

The Bicester Airfield , formerly a military airport , is now a site of the British Army . With RAF Upper Heyford there was another military airfield a few kilometers northwest.

history

The first settlements go back to the Kingdom of Wessex in the sixth century . A little further south the two Roman roads crossed Stratton (Audley) Road and Akeman Street . The current name goes back to the 17th century and was only one of 45 variants at that time.
