The counties of England since 2020

The list of Districts in England lists the 36 Metropolitan Boroughs , the 32 London Boroughs , the 188 Non-Metropolitan Districts , the 57 Unitary Authorithies and the City of London in alphabetical order. For each of England's 314 administrative districts, the population, status or name and the ceremonial county to which the area belongs are given. The unitary authorities, which can be compared with independent cities in Germany, belong to these counties only for ceremonial purposes; that is, the Queen is represented in this area by the same Lord Lieutenant .
