Vale Royal was a district with borough status in the county of Cheshire in England . The administrative seat was the city of Winsford . Other important places were Frodsham , Helsby and Northwich .
The district was formed on April 1, 1974 and was formed from the merger of the Urban Districts Northwich and Winsford, the Rural District Northwich and part of the Rural District Runcorn. On April 1, 2009, it was dissolved due to a territorial and administrative reform and went on in the new Unitary Authority Cheshire West and Chester .
