Hinckley and Bosworth is an administrative district with borough status in the county of Leicestershire in England . The administrative seat is the city of Hinckley , where almost half of the population lives. Other significant places are Barwell , Bagworth and Thornton , Barlestone , Burbage , Cadeby , Carlton , Earl Shilton , Groby , Market Bosworth , Markfield , Newbold Verdon , Peckleton , Ratby , Sheepy and Stoke Golding .

The district was formed on April 1, 1974 and was formed from the merger of the Urban District Hinckley and the Rural District Bosworth (excluding Ibstock ).
