Groby is a village in the Borough of Hinckley and Bosworth in the county of Leicestershire in the United Kingdom with about 7,300 inhabitants. The village borders the city of Leicester to the northwest .

geography

Groby is rich in granite reserves . Outside the settlement area is the Groby Pool , an alkaline lake created in the early Middle Ages .

history

The Earl of Leicester maintained a castle in Groby, but this was destroyed in 1172 by order of Henry II .
