Hyndburn is an administrative district with the status of a borough in the county of Lancashire in England , which is named after the River Hyndburn . The administrative seat is the city of Accrington . Other important places are Church , Clayton-le-Moors and Oswaldtwistle .

The district was formed on April 1, 1974 and was formed from the merger of the Borough of Accrington , Urban Districts Church, Clayton-le-Moors, Great Harwood, Oswaldtwistle and Rishton, and parts of the Rural District Burnley.
