West Lancashire is a borough in the county of Lancashire in England . The administrative seat is the city of Ormskirk ; other significant places are Aughton , Burscough , Halsall , Parbold , Skelmersdale and Tarleton .
The district was formed on April 1, 1974 and was created from the merger of the urban districts Ormskirk and Skelmersdale and Holland and parts of the rural districts of West Lancashire and Wigan.
