King's Lynn and West Norfolk is an administrative district with borough status in the county of Norfolk in England . The administrative seat is King's Lynn ; other significant places are Clenchwarton , Dersingham , Downham Market , Heacham , Hockwold cum Wilton , Hunstanton , Marham , Methwold , Snettisham , South Wootton , Terrington St Clement and Watlington . It is an important sightSandringham House .
The district was formed on April 1, 1974 and was the result of the merger of the urban districts King's Lynn, Hunstanton and Downham Market and the rural districts Docking, Downham, Freebridge and Marshland. Until 1981 the district was called West Norfolk, when it got its current name.
