Shropshire is a Unitary Authority in the county of Shropshire in England . The administrative seat is the city of Shrewsbury .
The Shropshire Unitary Authority was formed on April 1, 2009 from non-metropolitan County Shropshire . At the same time, the five districts of Bridgnorth , North Shropshire , Oswestry , Shrewsbury and Atcham and South Shropshire were dissolved and their powers transferred to the Shropshire Council . Since then, the ceremonial county of Shropshire has consisted of the Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin Unitary Authorities .
