Bath and North East Somerset (often abbreviated as BANES or B & NES ) is an administrative unit , a Unitary Authority , in the south-west of England . It borders Bristol , North Somerset , Somerset , South Gloucestershire and Wiltshire .
Bath and North East Somerset arose in the course of municipal reform in 1996 after the county County of Avon was abolished from the former districts of Bath and Wansdyke . For ceremonial purposes, it belongs to Somerset County.
The main town is Bath , here is also the administrative center. Bath and North East Somerset is part of the South West England region . Bath and North East Somerset include Bathford , Chew Magna , Kelton , Keynsham , Midsomer Norton , Radstock and Swineford as well as Bath .
