North Shropshire was a district in the county of Shropshire in England . The administrative seat was the city of Wem . The district also included the towns of Ellesmere , Market Drayton and Whitchurch .
The district was formed on April 1, 1974 and was the result of the merger of the rural districts of Market Drayton and North Shropshire. On April 1, 2009, the district was dissolved due to a regional reform and went on in the new Shropshire Unitary Authority .
