Wealden is a district in East Sussex , England . It is named after the Weald landscape between the North Downs and the South Downs . The administrative seat is Crowborough .

history

The district was formed in 1974 and resulted from the merger of the rural districts of Hailsham and Uckfield.

Of these, 39 have their own parish council. Alciston, Little Horsted and Selmeston do not have such a body; instead, residents' assemblies take place. Crowborough, Hailsham, Polegate and Uckfield are small towns ( Town ), accordingly the council there is called Town Council .
