Newark and Sherwood is a district in the county of Nottinghamshire in England . The administrative seat is the city of Newark-on-Trent . Other significant places are Bilsthorpe , Blidworth , Clipstone , Ollerton , Rainworth and Southwell .
The district was formed on April 1, 1974 and was created from the merger of the Municipal Borough of Newark and the Rural Districts of Newark and Southwell.
