Rushmoor is an administrative district with borough status in the county of Hampshire in England . The district includes the towns of Aldershot and Farnborough . It was formed on April 1, 1974 and resulted from the merger of the urban districts Aldershot and Farnborough.
The population of Rushmoor has increased in the last two centuries from 1,366 people in 1801 to 39,616 people in 1901 to over 90,000 people in 2001.

Council elections (elections to the council) take place three times every four years, with one third of the seats in the council being elected each time. Since 1973 either the Conservatives or no party had an absolute majority. Since the 2000 election, the Conservatives have had an absolute majority. The last election in 2010 resulted in the following distribution of seats: 30 seats for the Conservatives, 6 for the Liberal Democrats, and 6 for the Labor Party.
