Eastleigh is an administrative district with borough status in the county of Hampshire in England , which borders the city of Southampton to the west. The administrative seat is the city of Eastleigh , where a large part of the population lives; other significant places are Bishopstoke and Fair Oak .
The district was formed on April 1, 1974 and resulted from the merger of the original Borough of Eastleigh with part of the Rural District of Winchester.
