East Staffordshire is a borough in the county of Staffordshire in England . The administrative seat is the city of Burton-upon-Trent , in which more than half the population lives. Other important places are Barton-under-Needwood , Tutbury and Uttoxeter .

The district was formed on April 1, 1974 and was formed from the merger of the County Borough of Burton-upon-Trent, the Urban District Uttoxeter and the Rural Districts Tutbury and Uttoxeter.

Partnerships

A partnership with the city of Lingen (Ems) in Lower Saxony has existed since 1992 . Lingen originally formed the partnership with Burton upon Trent in 1982, but later expanded it to include East Staffordshire.
