Stroud is a district in Gloucestershire in England . The administrative seat is Stroud ; other important places are Dursley , Nailsworth and Wotton-under-Edge .
The district was formed on April 1, 1974 and was formed from the merger of the urban districts Nailsworth and Stroud, the rural districts Dursley and Stroud and parts of the rural districts Gloucester, Sodbury and Thornbury.
