West Devon is an administrative district with borough status in the county of Devon in England . The administrative seat is the city of Tavistock ; other significant places in the area largely covered by the Dartmoor are Chagford , Okehampton and Princetown .
The district was formed on April 1, 1974 and arose from the merger of the Municipal Borough Okehampton and the Rural Districts Okehampton and Tavistock.
