Teignbridge is a district in the county of Devon in England . It is named after the old Teignbrige Hundred administrative unit. The administrative seat is the city of Newton Abbot ; other important places are Ashburton , Buckfastleigh , Dawlish , Teignmouth .

The district was formed on April 1, 1974 and was formed from the merger of the urban districts Ashburton, Buckfastleigh, Dawlish, Newton Abbott and Teignmouth, the Rural District Newton Abbott and part of the Rural District St Thomas.
