Mid Devon is a district in the county of Devon in England . The administrative seat is the city of Tiverton ; another significant place is Crediton .

The district was formed on April 1, 1974 and was the result of the merger of Borough Tiverton, Urban District Crediton and the Rural Districts Tiverton and Crediton. The district was initially called Tiverton, but was renamed Mid Devon in 1978.

The area of Mid Devon includes 62 municipalities ( Parish ), some of which have the status of a Town. 47 of them have their own, Clayhanger, Hockworthy and Huntsham have a joint parish council. Twelve Parishes do not have such a body instead find citizens' assemblies (Parish Meeting).
