Dartford is an administrative district with borough status in the county of Kent in England . In addition to the town of Dartford , the administrative center, it also includes a few villages in the area. The village Swanscombe is known for numerous excavations from the Old Stone Age .
The district was formed on April 1, 1974 and was the result of the merger of Municipal Borough Dartford, Urban District Swanscombe and part of Rural District Dartford.
