East Hertfordshire is a district in the county of Hertfordshire in England . The administrative seat is Bishop's Stortford ; other significant places are Hertford (the traditional administrative seat of the county), Buntingford , Sawbridgeworth and Ware .
The district was formed on April 1, 1974 and was formed from the merger of the Municipal Borough Hertford, the Urban Districts Bishop's Stortford, Sawbridgeworth and Ware, and the Rural Districts Braughing, Ware and Hertford.
