Sawbridgeworth is a town in Hertfordshire , United Kingdom , of 7666 inhabitants (2001 census).

The place is east of the city of Hertford between Bishop's Stortford and Harlow on the A11. Sawbridgeworth has a rail link to Liverpool Street Station in London . The river Stort flows east of the city, past the malt houses (now a small business and living area).

The city is administered by the East Hertfordshire district council. The local city council currently has twelve council members. Sawbridgeworth talks to Bry-sur-Marne ( France ) since 1973, a city partnership .

The "Great St. Mary's Church" from the 13th century is well worth seeing. The " Tudor Tower " houses a tower clock from 1664 and eight bells, the oldest of which was made in 1749.

The Sawbridgeworth Cricket Club is one of the leading cricket clubs in the south of England. The team plays in the Home Counties Premier Cricket League. The home ground of the club, which was founded in 1897, is Town Fields.

The most famous residents of the city are Victoria and David Beckham . Both celebrities have lived in Rowneybury House (also known as "Beckingham Palace") since 1999.
