House of Tudor
House Tudor [ˈtuːdə], [ˈtʲuːdə] , Welsh Tudur or Tewdwr (English Royal House of Tudor ), is the name of a Welsh family on the English royal throne from 1485 to 1603.
The first English Tudor king, Henry VII , passed his claim to the throne through his mother Margaret Beaufort to King Edward III, who died in 1377 . Plantagenet back. Henry's father was Edmund Tudor , Earl of Richmond , son of Owen Tudor . As head of the Lancaster party , he defeated the last York king , Richard III. at the Battle of Bosworth Field in 1485, was recognized by Parliament and married Elizabeth of York , sister of the missing King Edward V.
After the death of the last English Queen Elizabeth I of the House of Tudor in 1603 , James I of the House of Stuart succeeded the throne because he was the great-grandson of Margaret Tudor ; he became the first joint king of England and Scotland.
