Mole Valley is a district in the county of Surrey in England . The administrative seat is Dorking ; other significant places are Abinger , Ashtead , Brockham , Capel , Charlwood , Fetcham , Leatherhead , Newdigate and Westcott .
The district was formed on April 1, 1974 and was created from the merger of the urban districts of Dorking and Leatherhead and most of the rural district of Dorking and Horley.
The River Mole gives the district its name.
