Administrative districts of England since 2020

The administrative structure of England was last reformed in some parts of the country in 2020. England is currently divided into nine regions , including Greater London . With the exception of Greater London, they are structured in three different ways. Exist since 2020

• 6 Metropolitan Counties , which are subdivided into a total of 36 Metropolitan Boroughs
• 25 non-metropolitan counties , which are divided into a total of 188 districts (areas with two-tier administrative structure, see also list of districts in England )
• 57 Unitary Authorities (areas with a single-level administrative structure), under which the Isles of Scilly have a special status. 50 with county status and 7 without county status.

The boroughs, districts and unitary authorities can have different additional titles, which they either use from a historical period or have received them more recently (e.g. because of their size). A distinction is made between Cities , Boroughs or Metropolitan Boroughs and London Boroughs .
